Leia lives with her husband and two kiddos in Middle Georgia, where she operates her private practice, Nurturing Lactation Care, LLC. She is honored to have been mentored by several IBCLCs on the Atlanta Lactation team and considers them family. She provides regular clinical and administrative support for Atlanta Lactation, including phone support, telehealth consultations, and home visits as needed. Soon she will be providing weekly consultations in our Decatur office.
Leia’s unique journey and work experiences give light to the way she approaches patient care. After a decade of serving as a fine arts educator in the Washington County Public Schools, she understands that knowledge is power. She is empathetic and creative while striving for minimalism. “When everything is confusing and overwhelming, we have to remember that there are really only three rules for any lactation journey: feed the baby, protect your supply, and protect your heart,” she says.
She has special clinical interests in breast refusal, breast health, and oral function and engages regularly in concentrated studies of these topics. She has completed several specialized courses, including Advanced Clinical Skills for the Lactation Consultant, Breast Pumps & Flange Fitting, Oral Motor Assessment, Ankyloglossia & Indications for Frenotomy, Pre- and Post-Frenotomy Care, and the Mastitis Spectrum. She is a member of the Georgia Breastfeeding Coalition, International Lactation Consultant Association (ILCA), United States Lactation Consultant Association (USLCA), National Lactation Consultant Alliance (NLCA), and the Institute for the Advancement of Breastfeeding and Lactation Education (IABLE).
