Nakaiya Birthfield, IBCLC brings over 13 years of hands-on lactation experience to her work, is one of our Lead IBCLCs, and serves as Director of Community Partnerships at Atlanta Lactation. She sees patients at our Kirkwood location inside Kirkwood Pediatrics and specializes in complex latch and oral-function challenges, low milk supply, pumping and return-to-work planning, NICU graduates, and gentle bottle-to-breast transitions, with advanced training in oral-motor function, reflux, and bottle refusal. Her care is evidence-based and judgment-free—equal parts problem-solver and hype-woman—so families leave with practical, real-life plans that fit their day, not the other way around.
Nakaiya is known for thoughtful follow-through and truly going the extra mile, from fine-tuning flange sizes to troubleshooting bottles and celebrating the small wins between visits. As a mom of four based in Stone Mountain, she brings both professional expertise and lived experience to the families she supports. Outside of clinical care, she enjoys cooking from scratch, exploring Atlanta’s coffee scene, traveling, and making meaningful memories with her kids.
